Food Inspection

The purpose of the Food Safety and Sanitation program is to establish standardized military food safety standards, criteria, procedures, and roles for the sanitary control and surveillance of food to mitigate risk factors known to cause foodborne illness. These provisions constitute the Tri-Service Food Code. Air Force Food Protection includes measures to prevent both unintentional/accidental contamination (food safety) and intentional/deliberate contamination (food defense). Services include: Inspecting all food and public facilities on Ramstein Air Base and Vogelweh. Investigating any food complaints / foodborne illnesses. In the event of a foodborne outbreak, Public Health responds to determine the cause and source of illness. Public Health may collect and ship food for laboratory analysis. We also provide food safety and sanitation training to food handlers.
