Appointments & Referrals
TRICARE Prime beneficiaries enrolled at the 86th Medical Group may schedule an appointment by calling the Ramstein Appointment Line and selecting the appropriate phone tree option. You can also make an appointment by logging into the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal
We adhere to the following Access to Care Standards when booking primary care appointments:
- Future: Appointments up to four months into the future
- 24 Hour: Not to exceed 24 hours
- Wellness: Not to exceed 28 days
Specialty Referrals & Services: All referrals for specialty care are coordinated by the Referral Management Center (RMC). Providers will enter a consult for specialty care into the computer; the consult will be electronically reviewed and booked by the RMC. After completing their primary care appointment, patients should visit RMC for information regarding referrals.
Prime enrollees, excluding active duty, may self-refer to a civilian TRICARE provider for the first eight mental health visits without a referral. The specialty clinics listed below are available at the 86 MDG. To be seen in these clinics, you must first have a referral from your assigned primary care manager. The only exception is Physical Therapy, which has direct access for active duty.
Clinics:
- Allergy/Immunization
- Audiology
- Behavioral Medicine
- Mental Health
- Nutrition
- Optometry
- Physical Therapy
For any care that your primary care manager does not provide, such as urgent, preventative, mental health, and specialty care, you will need a referral.
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal Secure Messaging
MHS GENESIS Patient Portal Secure Messaging is an online service that enables patients to communicate securely and privately with their health care team. It allows for a more secure exchange of health information compared to using a personal email account.
The Secure Messaging feature of the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal allows patients to:
- Communicate online with the health care team about non-urgent symptoms
- Receive upcoming notices of closures and events
The MHS GENESIS Patient Portal allows patients to:
- View and download your health data
- Book or cancel appointments
- Request prescription refills and renewals
- View clinic notes and certain laboratory/test results
- Exchange secure messages with your health care team
- Complete a pre-visit questionnaire online
- Look up health information related to your health concerns, results, and prescriptions
Secure Messaging participation is limited to those beneficiaries enrolled to a PCM at a military treatment facility. To learn more about secure messaging and the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal, visit https://www.tricare.mil/GettingCare/VirtualHealth/SecurePatientPortal
